The more I watch people, the more I understand the old saying that only the face can not hide a person’s inner peace.
The real and imaginary world that we build inside us creates endless combinations of human expressions. Those same expressions are the main theme in my art.
This is also the reason I chose glass as the my main material. It possesses properties very close to the human face. Glass changes it characteristics depending on the light, it lets it through or reflects it, just as the human face changes its expressions, depending on the emotions. The same happens with my work when the inactive plaster material transforms into a human face made of glass.
I prefer the cast glass technique, because it allows me to achieve full precision and volume in the preparatory sketches.
The themes, which have always intrigued me, are temples – so different like the religions in the world, as well as the temples we build inside us; good vs. evil; the search of the philosopher’s stone and the endless searching of humans for the inexplicable, the connection between human and water, and the origin of life.
All these themes are what inspire my work – a hint, or maybe an expression of fantasy worlds, that our mind creates – dreams and illusions – the places where we go, when we are alone.

Our Art Glass Center
Our Art Glass Center unites the studio of Yury Vassilev and Vitra gallery.
Our main activity is the creation of stained glass windows, lighting fixtures, mirrors, plastic arts and other interior and architectural glass details, which have been our priority since the founding of our studio in 1990.
The aim of our gallery is to show the works of the studio artist and to present exhibitions of other artists working with different glass techniques, as well as to organize various presentations and art projects, related to stained glass.
Under the guidance of Yury Vassilev, we currently offer various courses on basic and advanced glass techniques, including fusing, slumping, stained glass and glass drawing.
