ON-LINE VIRTUAL EXHIBITIONS WITH KOREAN PRIVATE ART MUSEUMS

Since its launch on December 2011, the Korean Artist Project has been receiving a lot of positive responses from the website visitors while providing them with a wide array of information regarding Korean artists as well as Korean contemporary art museums. Visitors are encouraged to browse the http://www.koreanartistproject.com. Through this successful second launch on August 2012, KAP has become the leading platform for Korean artists to help them expand their activities overseas, and also serves as a stepping-stone to create cultural exchange and global networks with diverse art people.

What is Korean Artist Project (KAP) ?

Korean Artist Project (KAP) is a first ever innovative global online platform that presents a series of virtual exhibitions featuring artworks by Korean contemporary artists to internationally promote them, allowing them to enter into the global art arena. KAP is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Korea and organized by the Korean Art Museum Association. Following the first year 2011 in which 21 Korean artists participated, the second year 2012 included more 21 Korean contemporary artists.

Featuring Vivid Virtual Exhibitions with Korean Private Art Museums

The KAP Website is designed to present a series of virtual exhibition spaces of each participating artist; its virtual solo exhibitions are curated by the curators of the Korean private art museums in nationwide. VR (Virtual Reality) system provides a three dimensional display space, allowing the Website visitors to explore and simulate in an exhibition. Through this effective and informative Website, the Website users worldwide are able to enjoy the vivid virtual exhibitions and meet a variety of Korean contemporary artists wherever and whenever they want beyond national boundaries.

Dynamic Open-Source Digital Archiving System

The open-Source digital archiving system handles large collections of artworks by participating artists and artists’ information including biographies, artist and critic notes. The Website users also can see vivid interviews of each participating artist. Through the interviews, the users are able to get insight into the artists’ art world as well as their intentions of works. For each artist interviews, the KAP team has visited their ateliers to produce and create the interview videos.

Global Network with International Art World

KAP has set up a Publicity and Marketing Advisory Committee to build a global network with major international art professionals, curators, critics, artists and the media. KAP has become the leading platform for Korean private art museums to help them interact with international art world and facilitate cultural exchange. Furthermore, KAP is currently connecting to social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, mobile applications, and Google to globally promote and share our project with people worldwide.

For KAP’s third launch of 2013, 21 more new selected artists’ names will be announced at the end of January. They will be added to the KAP website coming out on March.
