On June 24 and 25, 4th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art began.

A Time for Dreams

4th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art

3069 applications by artists under 35 from 84 countries of the world were submitted for the competition, which lasted from November 2013 through March 2014. David Elliott, Artistic Director of the Biennale, proposed the motto A Time for Dreams as the general theme, and curated the main Biennale project, which presented works by 83 artists from 32 countries of the world.

On June 24, strategic projects of the Biennale were presented to the public – they are seven exhibitions prepared by young curators from different countries. The strategic projects are on view at the venues of the Biennale founders – National Centre for Contemporary Arts (NCCA) and Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), and in the space of Tsvetnoy Central Market. The exhibitions for the strategic program were selected by the curatorial group of the Biennale out of 67 applications received for the international competition of curatorial projects.

June 25 saw the opening ceremony of the main Biennale project – David Elliott’s exhibition A Time for Dreams, hosted by the Museum of Moscow. Speeches at the ceremony were given by Elena Milovzorova (Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation), Anton Goryanov (Head of Museums and Exhibitions Department at the Moscow City Department of Culture), Mikhail Mindlin (Director General of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts), Vasily Tsereteli (Executive Director of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art), Alina Saprykina (Director General of the Museum of Moscow), Daria Pyrkina (Deputy Director for Creative and Educational Projects of the National Centre for Contemporary Arts), Nadezhda Mindlin (Executive Director of the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art), and David Elliott (Artistic Director of the 4th Moscow International Biennale for Young Art).

At the ceremony, the special prize for best work presented in the main Biennale project was awarded. The winner was named by the international jury:
