Turner and Venice

From october 9 2003 to january 11 2004

Turner was able to capture the emotion of the city of Venice and find a mirror there of his soul. The nearly 55 paintings and the one hundred watercolors presented at the Tate Britain show the fascination the city had on the artist, and are equally confronted to the works of his contemporaries such as Bonington, in order the shed light on the unique character of Turner's work at his time.
