Yan Pei-Ming works on the human figure, in particular the face. His portraits, whether identified or not, are rather anti-portraits that render a universal humanity. The thirty portraits chosen for this rerospective, done between 1990 and 2002, illusrate this will. The artist has a technique of large brush strokes on monumental canvases to explain his desire to paint "as if he was making war". |
