Pietro Chiesa's work is marked by Swiss tradition. A great number of his paintings represent the simple and often hard life of his country men and women. This contribution to the reconstruction of the identity of the Tessin region is seen in the monumental mural Vita ticinese, done for the national exhibit of 1939.
