Young Van Gogh and the Hague School
From february 5 to may 16 2005
Modern art
We usually associate Vincent to the Sunflowers and to France. But his artistic roots are in The Hague and with the painter sof the School of The Hague, a group of artists that created a Dutch impressionism. It is very realistic and had a particular interest in the difficult life the peasants and fishermen lead. It is in this artistic atmosphere that young Van Gogh developed his own realism and built the foundations for his future masterpiece, "The potatoe eaters".
