This prize created in 1984 is awarded to a British artist uner the age of 50 for a reamarkable exhibition or another presneation of their work held over the last 12 months. This year the four candidates in competition are Darren Almond (film, photo and sculpture), Gillian Carnegie (painting), Jim Lambie (installations and sculpture) and Simon Starling (installation).
