| Between 1792 and 1798, 3 German artists -Johann Christian Reinhart, Jacob Wilhelm Mechau et Christoph Albert Dies- carrie dout 72 etchings published under the name "Incisionei pittoriche di vedute italiane" by the Frauenholz publishing house in Nuremberg. This is the first time in etchings that the landscape takes on a more important role than the townscapes. This was an ambitious project, a new way of representing Rome and its suburbs. |
