The exhibit shows some sixty unique pieces chosen among a selection of poet and writer Michel Butor. These masks, from Africa and Oceania, Europe and America surpirse us by their ethnographic diversity as well as by their unique aesthetics. Added to these masks are Chinese, Iranian, Javanese and precolombian funeral masks, as well as masks from the sacred Tibetan and Nepalese theater and the secular Japanese theater. |
