Enter the dragon: the beginnings of english Chinoiserie, 1680-1710

The taste for "chinoiseries" -Chinese ornaments- spread in England when artists of all sorts started decorating their merchandise with fantastic ornaments inspired by the art of the Far East. The exhibition explores the explosion of these exotic images taht captivated England between 1680 and 1710 through pieces of engraved silver, enamelled porcelain and stoneware pots, as well as embridered textiles and Japanese inspired furniture.
