Known both as a symbolist painter and the forerunner of abstractionism, Kupka dedicated an important part of his ceative energy to illusrations. He made many series of drawings on the theme of the Song of Songs. They are all gathered together today in order to present all the phases of creation from the sketches with pencil to the very detailed watercolors done for the bibliophilic edition of the Song in 1931.
