Italy has always attracted artists, in the 17th century Jan Both and Nicolaes Berchem brought back from Italy seductive visions of mountains and golden light, to a flat and cloudy Holland. They inspired Cuyp, Wynants, Wouwermans and Weenix towards their own idyllic interpretations of landscapes they had never seen. |
